Enter through the museum
Salmon Ruins describes itself as a Chacoan outlier, museum and historic homestead. Its official site states that access to the grounds is through the museum only. Start there, check which areas are open and ask how best to divide your time. Do not interpret a visible outdoor area as permission to enter outside the visitor arrangements. Keep original and reconstructed spaces distinct
The local visitor bureau describes an archaeological site, museum and Heritage Park with reconstructed dwellings. Read the interpretation carefully so that a reconstruction is not confused with an original structure or presented as representative of every community. Build a visit around a question
Choose one theme before arriving: construction, changes in how a place was used, or the relationship between an individual site and a larger region.
